NEW YORK HOTEL REVIEW:
Rumours of a Standard in NYC had gripped us with excitement since our turn as a Standard DJ in 2005, so it was with throbbing anticipation that we checked into the first week of occupancy. The hotel was far from completion (everyone's shower head was broken and sprayed water into the bathroom) but we didn't care. The lobby of the Standard New York had the sense of urbanism we're constantly after, the rigorous intersection between innovation and design, and a hotel staff so considerate that the tip for a cabbie who brought back our colleague's missing suitcase was on the house. We loved the complimentary continental breakfast with warm croissants and danishes, and appreciated the free internet and floor to ceiling views of the Hudson.
The Room in the Standard New York:
The View of Chelsea from the Standard New York:
Rushing through the city, champagne on your tongue, rock'n'roll at your feet. Slurring through downtown speakeasies, raucous warehouses, and bold, swanky, rooftops. Breathless conversation, skylines for days, and city views that skip a beat. They call it New York, but we say it's drop dead.
